Harvester and Healers
Summer in the Garden
Garden Based Summer Session for 8-12 year olds
This is an experience for the young plant lovers, the crafters, the seed collectors, the flower worshippers, the fairy searchers and those who sit still and to listen to the leaves.
❋ Our DayWe will gather in a multi-age group of 8-12 year olds from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, and work in the garden, fields and the classroom at the Fiddleheads site. Each day will be focused on actual garden tasks or wildcrafting activities, and the harvesting and processing of plants into food, medicine and art.
Camp will run the weeks of August 10th and August 17th, Monday through Thursday.
❋ Botanical FocusWe have a lot of learning experiences at Fiddleheads that are based around play and adventure, but this is something a little bit different. We will still run and move and play, but we especially invite the quiet makers, the patient seed collectors, the flower and fairy worshippers to come and spend some time with us and the other plant lovers in the gardens caring for the plants, collecting, processing and creating together with the botanical world.
❋ StaffThis camp will be led by the Fiddleheads teachers Jessica Rhys and Osha Langstaff-French
Jessica is a very enthusiastic gardener, seedsaver, herbal processor, amateur chef and a total plant lover. Osha grew up on farms, with bees and animals, and loves connecting humans and plants in the garden. Both Jessica and Osha have multiple previous experiences creating programming for children and families in the garden, and are excited to be launching a full week garden program this summer.
❋ Enroll$ The cost of camp is $215 per week. See below for registration.
Campers are welcome to sign up for both weeks, but please note that this camp may have some repeating activities and lessons from one week to the next, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of signing up for multiple sessions.
