Forest Fridays

for K-3rd Grade

Come join us for seasonal sessions of outdoor learning

every Friday!

Outdoor Learning for All

Our Forest Fridays program offers a chance for homeschoolers and traditional schoolers between kindergarten and third grade to add a regular day of multi-age forest school learning experience to their routine.

Programming follows a seasonal curriculum based on what the natural world has to offer us for learning and discovery that week. For example, September is seed season, and we may harvest from the garden and conduct a seed search on our way to the forest. Then we may read about seed dispersal at circle time and do an activity around this. All of our learning is based around what we can immediately see and experience around us, and is designed to encourage curiosity, wonder and connection.

Each session will be conducted primarily outdoors and will take place on the Fiddleheads site, as well as the town forest on the Manchester Rec Center property.

The next program will run from 9am to 2pm

Fridays from September 11th through December 11th 2026.

Open the door, open our minds, let’s get outside

Please see our enrollment page for info about gear

We will enroll up to 12 children for this multi-age program, and we will run it with two staff and possibly a 3rd adult volunteer. Read about our staff here.

The fall 2026 program will take place Fridays from Sept 11th through December 11th, (with the exception of November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday.)

The cost of the program is $1105 for the session. A tuition deposit is required at the time of enrollment and full payment can be made in installments.

If your child is highly oppositional or has trouble staying with a group, forest school is possibly not a safe fit for them. Please inquire before enrolling if you have any concerns.

  • "I have been so impressed with our field trip experiences at Fiddleheads. They always leave me with such a good feeling and the sense that this is how learning should be done. "
